They look harmless...but it's all an illusion!
These 'death shoes' are bound to be the cause of many injuries over my lifetime as a mother. You see as a mother of daughters I have a plethora of these shoes, in all colours, all trims, all varieties of sparkliness...but they are dangerous. They might as well be 4 inch stilletos!
Poor Amelia fell down the stairs this afternoon, and at first I couldn't figure out how it happened, and then when Grace came up wearing these exact shoes, the proverbial light bulb came on! I asked her if she was wearing these 'tappy shoes' when she fell...and needless to say...she was!
Anyway, so far she seems okay...her nose is sore, but I called a friend who had a daughter with a broken nose this summer and I don't' think it is broken! It was made better by a cold cloth and an ice cube, along with a pink Popsicle!!
Pray for her!

blogging from above ground

Yes, I have made the switch to wireless!
Anyone who knows me knows that I am an excellent shopper for new big ticket items. An excellent shopper, but a terrible buyer! I am great at researching, price comparison, asking smarter people than myself for opinions...really great at it! But actually slapping that credit card down is another story! But this time, I did it! Then I took it back and did it again, but whatever - that is beside the point!
We started school today - and this is supposed to make it easier for me. We'll see I guess. I am hoping to be much more organized and diligent this year. I want to keep better records, so hopefully with this laptop I can make better habits of entering math marks daily.
This year I want to make more lists and use my time so much better. There is no more adjustment time...we are where we are, and I have to have my best effort even when it feels like everything is temporary! I want to use a schedule as a tool to serve us...I really do think that by planning our time better it will give us more time in the long run while still enabling me to get everything I want done in a day, or maybe by the end of the week!
The most important change I feel like I need to make this year is a more regular time with God each day. It is so important for me - it makes everything so much clearer. I need to have that time by myself each morning, and then together with my girls too. Just before we left Calgary we had really gotten into some good habits of devotions and prayer - I want to get those back. Right now we pray at meals, and before bed, but I want more than that for my kids...we are here together all day, I want it to be more than just ritualistic times for them with the Lord.
I need some time to myself each morning - it makes my day so much more productive. I just need a little bit of time to shower, read my Bible and get dressed - and it will make our days better!
I did get up before everyone today and we did start a new devotional today for our first day of school. It is a book that focuses each chapter on a different country that we can know a little about and then pray for. Today was Afghanistan, and tomorrow is Albania. I think it will be a great book to really open our eyes to the needs of people groups in the world.
We only did that and a bit of Nursery Rhymes...I like to ease them into it. We will add Math in tomorrow!
I also have to decide what classes I want to teach at AAA - I have lots of ideas...now to pick a couple!

I love blogs..

and whenever I read someone's blog - I want to post to my own! Even if I have nothing of interest to say! I love to get a glimpse into the lives of people...I check a few blogs regularily, a couple by close friends and a couple by friendly acquaintances...it always makes me smile, and makes me glad I know those people. It makes me feel blessed to be a part of their circles, and so very honoured when posts are true and honest, sharing things that are personal and deep! It actually always makes me want to be closer friends to those people who blog - I feel like I am connected to them already - many times more than I may be in real life! Silly, but true!

We have had such a fun summer. It is hard to believe it is almost over! Yes, we are planning to start school on the 25 - a week from today! Not a full school schedule at that time, but just a taste. Math and Language Arts I am thinking for the first week - just to get our feet wet. Then we can get deeper into it after Labour Day.

We have done so much camping this year, we've had BBQs and play days with friends, we have had a birthday party, and I even got a day trip with my friend without my kids (except the baby). Yes, it has been a great summer!

This, being our last week of 'summer' vacation is VBS week - my kids are at the church each day from 9-12 and they just love it! It is such a blast! I think Amelia will be going to grandma and grandpa's tomorrow because she is too young for VBS. That will be fun for her I am sure, although I am a little concerned with her ability to amuse herself! She has never had to do that really...she has a lot of entertainers around here!

Anyway, here's to the last week of summer, and blogs...hopefully when the first is over the second will become more regularily updated!
